We are seeking a Junior Website Developer responsible for both back-end (60%) and front-end development (40%) mainly on WordPress- includes customising themes and plugins or building something nice from scratch. This position requires a combination of programming skills (PHP, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript) and aesthetics (understanding element arrangements on the screen, the color and font choices, and so on). The candidate should have a strong understanding of industry trends and content management systems and eCommerce. Experience with the responsive and adaptive design is required Also, an understanding of the entire web development process, including design, development, and deployment is required.

Responsibilities

You may need to manage more than one design brief at a time and typical activities include:

• Brainstorm with internal teams to suggest appropriate technical solutions to client
• Establishing and guiding the website’s architecture
• Creating the IA / structure of the application
• Designing and implementing new features and functionality
• Ensuring high-performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of the CMS
• Helping formulate an effective, responsive design and turning it into a working theme and plugin.

Requirements

• 2-3 years’ experience in an agency or similar setup
• Good understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery
• Proficient with Adobe Photoshop or other CS softwares
• Up to date with the latest design trends and best practice in the industry
• Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications
• Experience designing and developing responsive design websites
• Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.
• Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers
• Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages
• Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML)
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools {{such as Git, SVN, and Mercurial}}
• Strong understanding of PHP back-end development
• Knowledge of Shopify / Magento is a plus!
